Neptune Memorial Reef , Cemetery in Florida
The Neptune Memorial Reef is an underwater columbarium, the world's largest artificial reef covering (over 60,000 m2) the ocean floor at a depth of about 15 m. It is located 5 km east of Key Biscayne in Miami (Florida). The underwater cemetery was opened in 2007. As of 2020, the Reef covers an area (about 10 hectares). The underwater design includes underwater roads leading to a central area with benches and sculptures. The reef is one of the most unusual places on the planet and is immensely popular with divers. Anyone can buy a place for a future burial. In most cases, divers and people who are simply in love with the sea want to be buried in the depths of the sea.
