Lychakiv Cemetery in Lviv, Ukraine

Lychakiv cemetery is one of the oldest cemeteries not only in Ukraine, but throughout Europe. Lychakiv Cemetery was founded in the 16th century, although there is historical evidence that plague victims were buried here already in the 13th century. Lychakiv Cemetery is a historical and memorial museum-reserve of the 20th century, located in the historical Lychakiv district of Lviv. In the 18th century, four suburban cemeteries were built around the closed churches. Of these, only the Lychakivs have survived to this day. His oldest tombstone dates back to the 16th century. The Lychakiv necropolis has more than three thousand monuments and gravestones. Among them are the works of famous sculptors and architects. Today it is one of the most popular and even the main attractions of the city and country.
